After a day of official engagements in Piedmont, Carabinieri Commander General Salvatore Luongo made a special stop at Rome’s Tor Tre Teste barracks before returning to headquarters. There, he addressed officers of the Mobile Unit preparing for emergency patrol duty in the capital.
“This is no formality,” stated General Luongo, “but a heartfelt tribute to your unwavering commitment to national security and public safety. Entering these barracks evokes cherished memories. Witnessing your readiness to confront any crisis reveals the true essence of the Carabinieri: courage, discipline, honor, and solidarity with citizens.”
He highlighted a recent rescue by two Mobile Unit officers who saved a foreign youth from the Tiber River as embodying this spirit. “Their extraordinary act of generosity, selflessness, and bravery—performed at great personal risk—transcends obstacles, turning Carabinieri heroism from mere words into tangible, everyday reality.”
Luongo’s visit honored all personnel who uphold the force’s noblest values in service to the community. “Every protective action strengthens citizens’ trust in our institutions,” he emphasized.
“I am a Carabiniere among Carabinieri,” Luongo concluded. “Our shoulder ranks signify only differing roles and responsibilities—never let the uniting spirit be cracked. Thank you for what you do for our people!”
