Petrobras-operated Búzios oil field surpassed its own record this weekend, exceeding daily production of 900,000 barrels. With this new milestone, the field could become Brazil’s largest crude oil producer as early as this year, Petrobras announced in a statement.
Located approximately 180 kilometers (112 miles) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, the Búzios field contains Brazil’s most productive wells, situated over 2,000 meters deep on the seabed. “In the first half of this year we brought more wells online than in the whole of 2024, including those at Búzios, with significant results that allowed us to achieve another record, surpassing the threshold of 900 thousand barrels per day,” emphasized Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard.
