British Producer Lord David Puttnam to Receive Industry Lifetime Achievement Award at Rome Film Fest

British film producer Lord David Puttnam is set to be honored with the Industry Lifetime Achievement Award at the twentieth edition of the Rome Film Fest, scheduled to run from October 15 to 26. The announcement was made by the president of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Salvatore Nastasi, following a proposal from the event’s artistic director, Paola Malanga.

This accolade, a new initiative for the festival starting from its 2025 edition, aims to celebrate personalities from the global film industry whose memorable careers have left an indelible mark on the history of cinema.

Through the production of films such as Hugh Hudson’s “Chariots of Fire,” Roland Joffé’s “The Killing Fields” and “The Mission,” Alan Parker’s “Midnight Express,” Bill Forsyth’s “Local Hero,” and Parker’s “Bugsy Malone,” Lord David Puttnam—one of the most eminent figures in contemporary culture—has won a collective ten Oscars®, ten Golden Globes, twenty-five Baftas, nine Emmys, and a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Industry Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented on Wednesday, October 15, during the 2025 festival’s opening night ceremony. The prize will be bestowed by producer, director, and screenwriter Uberto Pasolini, a long-time collaborator of Puttnam’s during the 1980s and 1990s.

A ingenious producer capable of merging deep artistic sensibility with entrepreneurial talent, Lord David Puttnam (London, 1941) is a fundamental figure in British and international cinema of the late twentieth century. He has served as president of the Film Distributors’ Association, Life President of the UK’s National Film and Television School, and has been awarded honorary affiliations with Bafta, the British Film Institute, and the Royal Television Society.

Alongside his professional work, Puttnam maintains a strong commitment to civil and humanitarian causes. He is a former president and current ambassador for Unicef UK, a Global Ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund, and an associate professor at University College Corkarman.
