Brescia Nightclub Ordered to Close for 15 Days in Crackdown on Violence

The Brescia Police Commissioner, Paolo Sartori, has ordered the immediate 15-day suspension of the liquor license and closure of “Molo”, one of the city’s most popular nightlife spots. The measure was enacted following what investigators describe as “serious public order and safety issues recorded in recent months.”

The nightclub, long the subject of complaints from exasperated local residents, has allegedly been the scene of numerous violent episodes, thefts, and robberies. Police reported that one of the most serious incidents occurred on August 23rd, when two 21-year-olds were attacked by a group. One victim was hospitalized in critical condition with a 30-day prognosis, while the other suffered a broken nose.

According to the investigation, State Police and Carabinieri were repeatedly called to the venue to break up brawls, assaults, and handle situations linked to alcohol abuse. In several cases, emergency medical services were required to treat injured individuals, including a minor who was hospitalized in serious condition due to alcohol poisoning.

Police Commissioner Sartori stated, “Once again, a public venue has become a stage for repeated episodes of violence and theft due to its clientele. Such situations cannot be tolerated, out of respect for citizens and the vast majority of patrons who have the right to frequent bars and clubs safely.” The Police Precinct clarified that the measure is preventative and not a punitive sanction against the establishment’s owner.
