A fire broke out in the bell tower of a church near Rome this morning in the town of Colle di Fuori. The accidental blaze started during restoration work at the Madonna del Buon Consiglio church. Firefighters and Carabinieri officers from the San Cesareo station were dispatched to the scene. The bell tower’s roof was damaged, but no injuries have been reported. The area was evacuated as a precaution.
According to an update from the Rocca Priora town council on its Facebook profile, cleanup operations and structural integrity checks of the building are currently ongoing.
The mayor, who was present on-site, and the entire administration expressed their solidarity with the community of Colle di Fuori. They highlighted the profound historical and spiritual value the church holds and thanked emergency crews for their swift and crucial intervention.
