A bar owner was stabbed in the chest near Rome, and a customer attempting to intervene suffered a hand injury before the assailant fled. The attack occurred in Gallicano nel Lazio, close to the capital.
Carabinieri from the Palestrina Company and the Forestry Unit responded. The attacker, a 65-year-old Roman man, is now in jail facing charges of attempted murder. The victim, transported to the hospital under code red, is not in life-threatening condition.
Initial investigations indicate the assault was triggered after the man was ejected from the establishment for being visibly intoxicated.
After the stabbing, the suspect fled by car but crashed shortly afterward on Via Prenestina Antica, leading to his arrest.
