An Atlantic disturbance is progressively approaching Italy and is expected to bring a significant deterioration in weather conditions, starting in the northern regions this evening and extending to central and southern areas tomorrow. The national Civil Protection Department has issued a warning for adverse weather conditions.
The alert forecasts thunderstorms from this afternoon over Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany, Lombardy, Veneto, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. These storms will extend overnight to Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise, and Campania. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy downpours, frequent lightning, local hail, and strong wind gusts.
An orange alert has been assessed for tomorrow in sectors of Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Tuscany, as well as the entire territories of Umbria and Lazio. A lower yellow alert is in effect for a large part of the rest of Italy.
