Argentine President Javier Milei delivered a nationwide televised address accusing lawmakers of enacting a “demagogic deception by politicians who consider citizens idiots.” He stated that deputies and senators approved legislation incurring “over $300 billion in debt,” as reported by the Argentine newspaper Clarín. Milei simultaneously announced he will submit a bill to penalize legislators approving budgets with fiscal deficits and another measure banning the Treasury from financing primary spending through money printing. “In the coming days, I will send a bill to Congress sanctioning the approval of national budgets resulting in a fiscal deficit,” Milei declared. “The proposal establishes a strict rule: the national public sector must achieve a balanced financial result or a surplus. Any new spending or revenue reduction affecting this result must be offset by an equivalent cut.”
