Aosta Prosecutors Investigate Disappearance of 25 Cats in Cogne

The Aosta Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the disappearance of 25 cats in Cogne between late June and late July. At least five owners have filed formal reports with the Carabinieri in recent weeks. Key evidence includes a seized GPS collar belonging to one missing cat, discovered in a meadow within the Lillaz district.

Nearly all disappearances occurred in the Lillaz and Sonveulla neighbourhoods. The Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment (AIDAA) is assisting the case, commissioning a criminal profiler to develop a psychological profile of the suspected catnapper. The association has also offered a €1,000 reward for information leading to the individual’s identification.
