AI Adoption in Italian Workforce Skyrockets to 46% in 2025, EY Study Reveals

The utilization of artificial intelligence in the Italian workplace has surged from 12% in 2024 to 46% in 2025. This dramatic increase is a key finding from the second edition of the ‘EY Italy AI Barometer’ study. Conducted by EY, the research involved over 4,900 respondents from nine European countries, including 539 professionals from various sectors of the Italian economy.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer an emerging technology but a concrete reality that is already generating value for businesses,” commented Giuseppe Santonato, AI Leader for EY Europe West. “Fifty-two percent of top management has reported tangible benefits in terms of cost reduction and profit growth. However, the true leap in quality will come when it is accompanied by a widespread and shared culture. Bridging the awareness gap between leadership and employees is now a strategic priority: a concrete investment in training, governance, and accessibility is needed to make AI an inclusive and sustainable lever for transformation.”

The study further indicates that over 80% of respondents rate their experience with AI positively, with companies actively supporting the integration of new technologies into their operations. In Italy, AI adoption is primarily driven by applications that enhance individual productivity, such as text writing tools (60%), voice assistants (47%), and chatbots (40%). Nevertheless, data security and protection (53%), user experience (40%), and costs (32.5%) remain the primary concerns for users.
