Traffic queues on the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, caused by a burning heavy goods vehicle near kilometer 525, cleared around 9:00 PM after approximately four hours within the closed sections between Orte and the junction with the Roma Nord Branch in both directions.
However, the stretch between Orte and the Roma Nord Branch junction remains closed in both directions to allow Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI) crews to remove the vehicle and restore normal traffic conditions. Additionally, the Roma Nord Branch itself is closed between Fiano Romano and its junction with the A1 Milan-Naples motorway towards Florence.
Current delays reported by Autostrade per l’Italia include a 5-kilometer queue between Attigliano and Orte towards Rome, near the mandatory Orte exit, and a 4-kilometer queue on the Roma Nord Branch between Castelnuovo di Porto and Fiano Romano towards the A1, near the mandatory Fiano Romano exit.
Firefighters, Highway Police patrols, ASPI’s Rome Operations Management personnel, and Civil Protection teams responded. Civil Protection distributed water to stranded motorists “despite the extensive closed section and the high number of drivers awaiting completion of the delicate operations to secure the burning vehicle and then the motorway stretch.”
