The northbound carriageway of the A1 motorway between Arezzo and Valdarno reopened shortly after 7:00 PM today. The route had been closed since morning following a collision occurring around 11:30 AM in the same section.
Motorway operator Autostrade per l’Italia confirmed traffic toward Bologna is now flowing normally using all available lanes without disruption. Southbound traffic toward Rome—reopened earlier at approximately 3:30 PM—also utilizes all lanes, though residual queues of 4 kilometers persist between Incisa and Arezzo, with congestion steadily easing.
During the closure, a 5-kilometer backup formed, trapping drivers for hours before vehicles were gradually released this afternoon. Autostrade per l’Italia stated it provided assistance to stranded motorists, distributing water via two patrol vehicles staffed by two operators each throughout the incident.
