Final Season of Carlo Verdone’s ‘Vita da Carlo’ Arrives on Paramount+ in November

The final season of the series “Vita da Carlo,” created by and starring Carlo Verdone, will be available exclusively on Paramount+ starting November 28. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the show’s official key art, which will be previewed at the upcoming Rome Film Festival.

Verdone, who created the series with Nicola Guaglianone and Menotti, co-wrote it with Pasquale Plastino and Luca Mastrogiovanni. The actor and author not only stars but also co-directs with Valerio Vestoso, under the production of Luigi and Aurelio De Laurentiis. The cast for this season includes returning faces and new entries such as Sergio Rubini, Monica Guerritore, Antonio Bannò, and Caterina De Angelis. The season also features guest appearances from Francesca Fagnani, Renzo Rosso, Giovanni Veronesi, Vera Gemma, and the late Alvaro Vitali, who passed away last June, in his final screen role.

The story resumes after the gaffe Verdone’s character committed during the Sanremo Festival in the third season. In the wake of the media frenzy, Carlo, portrayed as another illustrious victim of cancel culture, has retreated to Nice, France, with no intention of returning to Italy. However, just as he grows accustomed to his self-imposed exile, he is contacted by the director-general of the Experimental Film Center, who offers him a professorship in directing.

Carlo accepts, seeing it as a chance to reinvent himself and write a final chapter worthy of his legacy. His return to Italy is low-key, allowing him to rediscover the simple pleasure of walking through Rome’s streets without constant requests for selfies. His sole focus becomes mentoring the six young directors at the Center, who represent the future of Italian cinema. Yet, a generational divide is immediately apparent; the students, raised in a society steeped in political correctness, and Carlo seem to speak different languages. Nevertheless, he is determined not to give up and gradually realizes his true goal is to provide concrete support to new talents from behind the scenes. This path, however, is fraught with obstacles, from mischievous colleagues to compromises with producers.

Meanwhile, Carlo’s new professional challenge is set against the backdrop of his usual family problems. His children, Chicco and Maddalena, are absorbed by parental duties and planning a wedding; Annamaria and Sandra are dealing with their respective heartaches; and Giovanni and Eva have returned from New Zealand with a big surprise. And, as always, everyone turns to just one person to solve their problems: Carlo.
