An Atlantic storm system is bringing severe weather across Italy, prompting the Civil Protection Department to issue an orange-level weather-hydrological alert for Lombardy, Veneto, and Lazio for tomorrow. A lower-level yellow alert has been issued for the remaining parts of those three regions, as well as for sections of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, and Tuscany. The alert also covers the entire territories of Umbria, Abruzzo, and Molise, plus parts of Campania, Sicily, and Sardinia.
The advisory forecasts thunderstorms for Umbria and Lazio starting late this afternoon, extending overnight to Campania and then to Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Precipitation is expected to persist throughout tomorrow in Piedmont, Lombardy, and Tuscany. The storms will be accompanied by intense downpours, frequent lightning, possible localized hail, and strong wind gusts.
