Three Bids Submitted for Livigno Olympic Ski Lift and Parking Project

Simico, the company responsible for the infrastructure planning and construction for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, has received three offers for the Livigno interchange project. The project entails the construction of a cable car link—Carosello-Freita-Valfin—and an underground parking facility with approximately 500 spaces on Via Freita. The objective is to connect the ski areas and reduce road traffic.

“The interest from the companies that submitted bids demonstrates the willingness that has been created among industry operators to be part of a larger project, born from the Olympics, which will have its greatest effects afterward as a legacy for the region, its residents, and future vacation visitors,” explained Government Commissioner and Simico CEO Fabio Saldini in a statement.

“With the offers now received and the commission already established last weekend, we will proceed to assign the project to the most suitable operator based on the required criteria,” added Saldini. “All environmental procedures have already been completed, and the services conference has approved the project. We are ready to begin.”

With the Mottolino parking facility currently under construction and an additional 500 spaces becoming available, the goal of a car-free valley will be realized. This initiative aims to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty, limit traffic, and promote alternative means of transport, primarily for the benefit of the environment.

As per the scheduled timeline, the work will be completed after the Games, leaving the Olympic venue in Valtellina with a sustainable, cutting-edge, and strategic asset.
