An autopsy on the body of Francesca Manno, the 83-year-old woman who was struck and killed on the pavement by a 70-year-old man, is to be performed in the coming days. The man had attempted to take his own life last night by jumping from a fourth-floor window. The examination has been ordered by the on-duty prosecutor, Giovanna Cavalleri, who is expected to open a formal investigation in the next few hours.
The man, who was injured in the fall and hospitalized at Niguarda, has been charged by the Carabinieri with manslaughter and remains at liberty pending further proceedings.
