The brother of a 15-year-old boy who died by suicide has written a letter to Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to denounce the years of bullying he was forced to endure, which ultimately drove him to take his own life. The victim, Paolo, was found dead last Thursday morning in his bedroom at the family home in Santi Cosma e Damiano, in the southern province of Latina.
Cassino’s Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation for alleged instigation to suicide and has ordered an autopsy. In the letter, first reported by Il Messaggero, Paolo’s brother describes how he was “persecuted by bullies” through messages, pranks, and insults.
Carabinieri police are investigating the case and have seized mobile phones from several of his classmates. The evening before his death, the teenager had sent a message to his classmates asking them to “save him a seat in the front row” at school. The next morning, he was found deceased.
