Fashion designer Giorgio Armani left one of his most important artworks, a portrait of Andy Warhol, to his long-time partner and executive vice president, Pantaleo Dell’Orco, according to one of two wills opened three days ago and made public this morning. While the designer bequeathed the furnishings of his Milan home on Via Borgonuovo to his family and closest collaborators, his most significant art pieces were reserved for Dell’Orco and his sister, Rosanna Armani.
Specifically, Rosanna Armani inherited a painting by Henri Matisse and a photograph of a hand by Man Ray. She also received a table by Sottsass, a Chinese secretaire, and a large painting. Dell’Orco was left a bronze statue of a tiger, a bear, and a panther, alongside other items including metal animals, Japanese rugs, and a dark wood desk by JM Frank.
Michele Morselli, a friend and the CEO of L’Immobiliare srl, was bequeathed a large desk with gold legs, a light wood ‘Z’-shaped table, an imitation animal-skin armchair, and another orange pony-hair armchair. The designer’s niece, Roberta, inherited two black and beige Japanese screens, a Japanese shelf, and two terracotta horses.
Vintage cars were divided between Dell’Orco and Morselli. The Giorgio Armani Foundation received the ground-floor furnishings of his Milan residence, which include a large portrait of fashion designers, armchairs, a leather and wood sofa, and a large checkered table.
