The emergency room at Milan’s Gaetano Pini Hospital has reopened with a new look following a complete renovation. The upgraded facility was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by Lombardy’s Welfare Councilor Guido Bertolaso and has become operational on schedule. Also present at the event were Paola Lattuada, Director General of the Gaetano Pini-Cto Asst, and Gaia Romani, City of Milan Councilor for Decentralization and Civic Services.
The goal of the redevelopment was to enhance the quality of patient admission, optimize organization, and increase comfort for both patients and medical staff. Key improvements include the expansion and reorganization of the triage areas and examination rooms, alongside the creation of a modern, heated “warm room.” This protected, climate-controlled environment is designed for patient arrival and initial care, featuring separate access points for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
Councilor Bertolaso stated, “This record-time inauguration is a fundamental piece of our commitment to a more efficient Lombard healthcare system that is closer to its citizens. We are modernizing hospital facilities to guarantee rapid and quality care.” He added that this project is part of a broader plan to redevelop other emergency rooms, with work currently underway at Milan’s San Carlo, Policlinico, Niguarda, and Macedonio Melloni hospitals, and soon to begin at Fatebenefratelli.
Director General Lattuada added, “Thanks to the timely restructuring, the Pini Emergency Room is now more functional and accessible. We have worked with the aim of humanizing the spaces. We thank the citizens for their patience during this period and all the staff for their commitment to ensuring service continuity during the transfer of activities to the Cto’s ER.”
