The funeral of Alfredo Ambrosetti, founder of the Cernobbio Forum, was held this afternoon in the Basilica of San Vittore in Varese. Ambrosetti passed away on Saturday at the age of 94. Among those in attendance were the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti; life senator Mario Monti; and the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.
In his homily, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, emeritus president of the Pontifical Academy for Life and the RenAIssance Foundation, remembered Ambrosetti as “a prophet of ‘We’ in a world where everyone is focused on their own things. In a crowd of ‘I,’ he was the man of ‘We.’ He dreamed of a society truly worthy of the name and founded the Cernobbio Forum during the years of terrorist attacks.”
Senator Mario Monti also spoke, stating that Ambrosetti “exerted influence on captains of industry and politicians. He exerted it where it matters most: on their minds, on their expertise, by shaping and updating it incessantly. On their sense of responsibility, calling them to respect the rules, the community, their opponents, and future generations, both in business and in the country.”
