The Turin Prosecutor’s Office has issued a favorable opinion for the suspension of proceedings against John Elkann, subject to a probationary period, in the investigation concerning the inheritance of his grandmother, Marella Agnelli. She was the widow of Gianni Agnelli and passed away in 2019.
Prosecutors have instead requested the full dismissal of the case against Elkann’s siblings, Lapo and Ginevra, for the crimes of making a false tax declaration and defrauding the State. A partial dismissal was requested for John Elkann, but only for the charge of a false declaration, limited to two tax years.
According to Prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri, these decisions follow “the payments made to the treasury by the suspects for a total of approximately 183 million euros – a sum which fully extinguishes the tax debt, including penalties and interest.”
A full dismissal was also requested for Urs Robert Von Grunigen, the notary for Marella Caracciolo. A partial dismissal—again, only for the charge of a false tax declaration for two years—was requested for Gianluca Ferrero, the family’s accountant and the current president of Juventus FC.
In contrast, the Turin notary Remo Maria Morone has been served with a notice of the conclusion of investigations, an act that typically precedes a indictment and trial.
