Hundreds of thousands of people are anticipated to gather in St. Peter’s Square tomorrow for the canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. A comprehensive security plan orchestrated by the central police headquarters will be activated overnight. The faithful will be granted access to the area only after passing through checks, which will include state-of-the-art metal detectors. Admission procedures will commence at 6 a.m.
Thirty rapid-scan stations and metal detector checkpoints will be operational near Bernini’s Colonnade. In anticipation of numerous buses arriving from across Italy, specific parking areas have been designated to facilitate operations. A portion of the pilgrims will arrive at the Vatican aboard a special charter train that is scheduled to enter Vatican City itself.
