Pope Leo XIV proclaimed Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati as saints during a mass in St. Peter’s Square this morning. The official decree was pronounced in Latin using the formal formula: “We enroll the blesseds Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis in the Book of Saints, decreeing that they be venerated as saints by the whole Church.”
Following the proclamation, their relics were presented and placed upon the altar. According to competent authorities, over 80,000 faithful were in attendance in St. Peter’s Square and the surrounding areas for the canonization ceremony presided over by the Pope.
