Carabinieri in Milan have charged twelve foreign nationals and arrested one following a raid on an abandoned building on Via Eritrea, near Franco Verga park. The property was being occupied illegally by homeless immigrants and used as a base for illicit activities. The operation was conducted by officers from the Porta Magenta company, supported by personnel from the 3rd Lombardy Regiment. An Egyptian, an Iraqi, and eight Moroccans were charged with trespassing and violating immigration laws. A 21-year-old Moroccan man, who had illegally re-entered Italy after being expelled, was arrested. Two other immigrants were charged for drug possession after being found with a small quantity of hashish. The building was secured and returned to its owner.
