The goalkeeper of Volpiano Pianese, who was assaulted by a rival player’s parent, and a Carmagnola player have both been handed one-year suspensions for their involvement in a brawl that followed an Under-14 match in the Super Oscar football tournament. The decision was issued by sports judge Roberta Lapa of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (National Amateur League). The disqualification was levied due to “the severity of the violent conduct displayed by youths of a very young age, which undermines the healthy principles of sport.”
The Volpiano goalkeeper has been suspended until September 4, 2026. The ruling states that after the match, he “engaged in violent and unsporting conduct by instigating a brawl and striking an opposing player, who was lying on the ground, with slaps and punches to his side and back. This conduct gave rise to a further act of violence by an individual not on the team sheet, who entered the field of play arbitrarily and without right.” The Carmagnola player received the same sanction for “engaging in violent and unsporting conduct by taking an active part in the brawl instigated by his opponent, in turn striking an antagonistic team player with a punch to the back of the head. This behavior increased the animosity of those on the pitch, facilitating the entry onto the field of a person not on the team sheet.”
An official of Volpiano, who is the father of the goalkeeper, was also suspended until March 2026. He was penalized because “as a representative of the club, instead of intervening to calm tensions, he engaged in violent conduct by brawling with a person not on the team sheet who had entered the field of play.” Fines were also imposed: €200 on the hosting club, Paradiso Collegno, for a lack of supervision, and €150 each on Carmagnola and Volpiano Pianese for objective liability in the brawl.
