Seven Test Positive for Mpox in Udine with Two Distinct Outbreaks Identified

Seven individuals have tested positive for mpox, formerly known as monkeypox. Six of them are currently hospitalized in the infectious diseases clinic of the Udine hospital, while another is in self-isolation.

According to the Tgr Rai Friuli Venezia Giulia news service, health authorities have identified two distinct outbreaks. The first cluster involves a family of five—three adults and two children—who have been hospitalized since mid-August. In this case, the virus is believed to have been imported from Africa.

The second outbreak, which emerged at the end of August, was instead imported from a European country and involves individuals residing in Udine. The condition of all those infected is reported to be stable and not causing concern; they remain under medical observation.
