A single bid has been submitted for Palazzo Dugnani, the elegant city-owned building in Milan featuring Tiepolo frescoes, located between via Manin and the Giardini Montanelli. The Milan city government had published a tender for a 33-year concession, which also requires restoration works estimated to be worth €20 million.
The sole offer was presented by Suit Supply srl, the Italian branch of the Dutch menswear brand. For now, officials have only opened the initial bid envelope. Due to a lack of documentation, it must now be seen whether the city’s legal office will approve a supplementary filing. The documents will then be analyzed before the technical merits of the bid can be assessed.
The prospect of it becoming a fashion museum, an idea previously considered by the National Chamber for Italian Fashion that ultimately did not materialize, has been set aside. The tender instead opened the possibility for the palace to become a museum of media and images or a scientific-cultural hub linked to the nearby Natural History Museum. The 33-year concession carries an annual rent of €1.633 million as the auction base price, with the €20 million restoration costs to be deducted from the lease fee.
