Following expanded cooperation on natural gas, Russia and China are strengthening their ties in the oil sector. Russian oil giant Rosneft has signed an agreement to supply Beijing with an additional 2.5 million tons of oil per year through Kazakhstan. The announcement was made by Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel at the Eastern Economic Forum, as reported by the Tass news agency. Minister Tsivilyov stated, “The agreement was signed by Rosneft and its Chinese counterparts for the additional supply of 2.5 million tons of oil via Kazakhstan.”
