The Local Police of Chieti have issued their first fine under the new provisions of Law No. 82 of June 6, 2025, the so-called “Brambilla Law” concerning crimes against animals. The recipient is the owner of a dog kept on a chain, who has been ordered to pay a fine of one thousand euros.
The police intervention followed several reports concerning the dog, which was found permanently tethered on a chain in an agricultural area of Chieti. The chain was so short it prevented the animal from moving freely. After a period of surveillance, officers intervened and issued the prescribed fine, which ranges from 500 to 5,000 euros; the amount was set at 1,000 euros in this case.
The Local Police of Chieti have announced that their checks will continue in the coming days, both on their own initiative and in response to citizen reports.
