A television crew from the program ‘Fuori dal Coro’ (Outside the Chorus) was assaulted in the Quarticciolo neighborhood of Rome. Mario Giordano, the host of the show which returns to Rete 4 on Sunday, September 7th, reported the incident on X.
Giordano stated, “For how long have we been reporting that this is an area out of control? For how long have we been telling you that immigrant drug dealers are in charge there? Then, in recent days, an immigrant bought crack in Quarticciolo and went to rape women in a nearby park. We went to document the situation and discovered that despite the reports and promises, nothing has changed. Criminals are still in charge in Quarticciolo. What is the government waiting for to do something? Mobilize the army? Militarize the area? Minister Piantedosi must do what is necessary… meanwhile, on Sunday, September 7th, you will see the footage on #fuoridalcoro.”
Fabio Rampelli, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies for the Fratelli d’Italia (FdI) party, also commented. “This is yet another episode of violence and intimidation in Quarticciolo,” he said, “where, despite the government’s will to rehabilitate and redevelop the area, a minority of people who live off and in illegality lay down the law. The local citizens, who in 2022 gave the majority of their votes to FdI and the center-right precisely to represent their desperate demand for security and legality, want to live in a normal neighborhood.”
Rampelli detailed this vision as a place with “no no-go zones, no illegal occupations, no palpable degradation at every hour of day and night,” where “the drug dealing circuit run by immigrant pushers in league with clan bosses is eradicated,” and where “the fundamental rights of individuals, especially the most honest and vulnerable, are guaranteed.”
He concluded, “No redevelopment action can be separated from a return to legality, which the national government will guarantee. After the rapes in the area that made headlines in recent days, the criminality does not retreat and, on the contrary, goes so far as to attack journalists and operatives intent on carrying out their reporting duties. My solidarity goes to them and to Mario Giordano. Enough is enough.”
