The Carabinieri of the provincial command of Cagliari have launched a large-scale manhunt to identify and capture the perpetrators of a failed attack on a Mondialpol armored truck. The attempted robbery occurred this morning along State Road 387 in the area of Sant’Andrea Frius, in the metropolitan city of Cagliari.
According to authorities, the commando consisted of at least four armed and hooded individuals, likely with additional accomplices waiting in getaway cars. The assailants attempted to block the path of the armored vehicle by setting a van and a Fiat Multipla ablaze on the road. However, their plot was thwarted when the action was spotted by passing motorists and the driver of the armored truck, who immediately stopped, put the vehicle in reverse, and avoided the trap. The suspects subsequently fled the scene.
Following the incident, Carabinieri discovered two torched Fiat 500 L vehicles on a dirt road, believed to have been used for the escape and then set on fire to destroy evidence. All four burned-out vehicles involved were confirmed to have been stolen. Forensic teams are conducting examinations on the vehicles for any traces or clues that could lead to identifying the commando. Checkpoints and controls have been established throughout the entire area.
