The gathering for a pro-Gaza march began in the Santa Maria Elisabetta square on Venice’s Lido. The demonstration was organized by social centers from the Northeast along with the ‘7Martiri’ ANPI chapter of Venice. Participants already assembled in the square were joined by others who disembarked from a ferry that had departed from Porto Marghera in the early afternoon. Hundreds of small paper boats, each painted with the Palestinian flag, were placed on the square’s pavement. Protesters are now assembling behind a banner that reads, “Stop genocide – Free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
