Sixth Edition of “Dining Together, the Flavor of Solidarity” Presented in Viterbo

The sixth edition of “A cena insieme, il sapore della solidarietà” (Dining Together, the Flavor of Solidarity) was presented this morning in the council chamber of Viterbo’s City Hall. The event, conceived by the association ‘Viterbo con amore’, aims to support the work of the Alfio Pannega solidarity emporium in the Santa Barbara district.

Mayor Chiara Frontini was joined at the presentation by Social Policies Councillor Rosanna Giliberto, Roberto Capoccioni (President of the cultural association La Rosa), Massimi Piergentili (President of the Santa Barbara Festival Committee), and Domenico Aruzzolo, President of both ‘Viterbo con amore’ and the solidarity emporium.

On the evenings of September 5th, 6th, and 7th, Piazza del Sacrario will be transformed into an open-air restaurant where residents can enjoy traditional local dishes while contributing to a good cause. All proceeds will go to the solidarity emporium, which for years has been supporting over 300 disadvantaged families, working alongside social services. The young people from the La Rosa association and the Santa Barbara Festival Committee will serve as the chefs for the three evenings.

“The Solidarity Emporium has become a true community hub, a place where poverty is tackled in a comprehensive way,” explained Aruzzolo. “The proceeds from the dinners will be used to stock the pantry with essential goods like pasta, sauce, oil, toothpaste, and soap, but also to provide school supplies for 160 children from first grade through middle school. While operating in a subsidiary role and not replacing the work of the City Council, the Emporium is committed to covering these specific family needs and to enrolling the youngest in sports courses thanks to a collaboration with ten local amateur associations.”

“Last year, 50 children practiced sports for free—a small miracle made possible by solidarity.”
