The Trump administration has announced a tightening of visa rules for foreign students and journalists. According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security, the new regulations will drastically limit the permitted length of stay in the United States.
Under the new rules, visas for foreign students will be limited to the duration of their study program and capped at a maximum of four years. For members of the media, visas will be valid for just 240 days, a significant reduction from the current two-year period before renewal is required, and will also be limited to the length of their assignment.
