EU to Discuss Training Ukrainian Troops in Western Ukraine Before Truce, Says Kallas

EU High Representative Josep Borrell stated that the informal Defense Council in Copenhagen will debate modifications to the European missions in Ukraine, encompassing both civilian and military training endeavors. He noted that the talks would include gauging the willingness to train Ukrainian military personnel in the western part of the country before any ceasefire is formally agreed upon. Borrell added that while the discussion on security guarantees is intended for a post-conflict scenario, observing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions indicates a truce is not imminent.
