Piazza Affari opened with little movement on Thursday, with the FTSE MIB index up a marginal 0.02% at 42,359 points. The market quickly gained momentum, however, registering a 0.3% gain. The trading session was largely untroubled by a proposed tax on share buybacks, which follows a recently hypothesized different fiscal treatment for banks’ deferred tax assets (DTA). Top performers included Stellantis, rising 2.3% amid European registration data, and STMicroelectronics (STM), which gained 1.8%.
