Palestinian Girl, 7, Discharged from Italian Hospital by Mother Without Notice

A seven-year-old Palestinian girl, who arrived two weeks ago at the Spedali Civili hospital in Brescia on an Italian Air Force humanitarian flight from the Gaza Strip, was discharged by her mother in under 24 hours. The child, who was being treated for a bone malformation, had been admitted to the pediatrics ward. However, the following morning, her mother removed her from the hospital without notifying doctors or nurses, as confirmed by the hospital’s internal security cameras. The incident was first reported today by the Giornale di Brescia. Hospital management has reported the matter to the local Prefecture and Police Headquarters. However, the woman is not believed to have committed a crime, as the Palestinians who arrived in Italy on the flight are under international protection and are free to move. Preliminary investigations suggest the mother and daughter may have been traveling to Northern Europe.
