The Carabinieri in Maruggio (Taranto) have arrested a 35-year-old man on charges of repeatedly abusing his former partner. He is alleged to have recently struck the woman with a kitchen knife, inflicting injuries.
The man, an Eastern European national, was remanded to jail under a precautionary custody order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations (GIP) of Taranto, at the request of the local prosecutor’s office.
Investigations uncovered a lengthy pattern of physical and psychological violence, including threats, assaults, and intimidation, which reportedly caused the victim to live in a persistent state of anxiety and fear.
