According to newly published NATO estimates examining data through June, 31 out of 32 member nations are projected to meet the Alliance’s benchmark of spending 2% of their GDP on defense by 2025. Iceland, which does not have a military, is the sole country not counted toward this goal. As reflected in the Alliance’s figures, Italy’s military budget is set to rise to over 45 billion euros in 2025, a significant increase from the 18 billion euros it spent in 2014.
