The city of Milan is under an orange weather alert, indicating a moderate hydrogeological risk, and a concurrent yellow alert for ordinary watercourse and thunderstorm risk, effective from midnight. A significant deterioration in weather conditions is forecast to begin overnight, intensifying from late tomorrow morning through the early afternoon. The severe weather is expected to persist into the evening and the following night, prompting the preemptive closure of all city parks.
The Municipality warns that heavy rains, particularly north of Milan, could lead to “significant overflows and a risk of flooding” for the Lambro and Seveso rivers. Residents are strongly advised to exercise caution in areas adjacent to these waterways.
City officials emphasize the critical importance of evacuating all green spaces, parks, and wooded areas for the duration of the alert. The public is also warned not to linger near or under construction scaffolding, outdoor dining structures (dehors), and tents. Residents are urged to secure any objects on balconies, such as furniture and planters, and all other items that could be displaced by strong winds and severe weather.
The Municipal Operations Center (COC) of Milan’s Civil Protection will be active to monitor the situation and coordinate any necessary emergency response operations throughout the city.
