Typhoon Kajiki Claims Three Lives in Vietnam, Triggers Widespread Disruption

At least three people have died in Vietnam in the wake of Typhoon Kajiki, with rescue efforts severely hampered by uprooted trees and downed power lines. The streets of the capital, Hanoi, were thrown into chaos due to severe flooding.

The typhoon made landfall yesterday with wind speeds of up to 130 km/h (80 mph), tearing the roofs off thousands of homes and cutting off electricity to more than 1.6 million people. Authorities confirmed the death toll and reported 13 people injured today, warning of potential flash floods and landslides in eight provinces as torrential rains continue.
