Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the dismissal of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, accusing her of falsifying documents to secure more favorable mortgage terms. The announcement was made by Trump in a post on his Truth Social platform.
Trump ordered the dismissal “with immediate effect,” citing allegations that Cook made false statements to obtain better terms on a mortgage. In a letter addressed to Cook, Trump referenced a criminal referral from the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency to the U.S. Attorney General, dated August 15.
“I have determined that there is sufficient cause to remove you from office,” Trump wrote in the letter.
