Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the presence of foreign troops following the end of the war with Russia is “important.” The comments were made as Kyiv works to establish potential security guarantees with its Western allies. Speaking alongside visiting Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Ukrainian Independence Day, Zelensky affirmed that the issue of a physical military presence, or “boots on the ground,” is a significant matter for his country.
