The Rome Police Headquarters (Questura) has finalized its security and traffic management plan for sporting events at the Stadio Olimpico for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. The Capitoline Hill administration announced the new organizational model, which will apply to the home matches of AS Roma and Lazio (men’s Serie A), AS Roma’s Europa League fixtures, the home games of the Italian men’s rugby team for the Six Nations tournament (against Scotland on February 7 and England on March 7), and the men’s Coppa Italia final on May 13, 2026.
The plan includes parking bans, “on-sight” closures that can be enacted as needed, dedicated fan parking areas, and specific traffic flow measures for Via Edmondo De Amicis. On match days, all-day parking prohibitions will be in effect on a comprehensive list of streets surrounding the stadium, including Via Morra di Lavriano, Viale dei Gladiatori, and Piazzale dello Stadio Olimpico.
The “on-sight” closures may be implemented on key roads such as Via Tittoni, Largo Ferraris IV, and Ponte Duca D’Aosta. As in previous years, dedicated spectator parking zones will be established in the Piazzale Clodio and Villaggio Olimpico areas, with parking strictly prohibited for non-attendees. For high-profile events, an additional parking area at Tor di Quinto may be opened for fan vehicles.
Post-match, “on-sight” traffic interdictions may be enforced on roads around the Foro Italico complex, including Piazzale Diaz, Viale Boselli, and the Giovanni XXIII tunnel exit towards the stadium. For public order and safety reasons, Via De Amicis will not only have a parking ban but will also become one-way from Via della Camilluccia to Piazzale dello Stadio Olimpico, with the possibility of a temporary full closure.
The stadium is accessible via sustainable public transport, with 19 bus lines serving the area. Key routes include lines 2, 200, 280, and 910 to Piazza Mancini, and lines 23, 31, 69, 70, and 89 to Piazzale Clodio. Additional connections are available via Piazzale Flaminio (metro A) on lines 61, 160, and 490, with a transfer to bus line 2 to complete the journey to the stadium.
