The Milan Review Court has scheduled a hearing for today to consider an appeal by real estate entrepreneur Manfredi Catella against his house arrest order. The founder of Coima sgr is expected before the judges at 9:50 AM. Catella was arrested on July 31st by order of preliminary investigations judge (GIP) Mattia Fiorentini as part of the Milan Prosecutor’s urban development investigation.
In recent weeks, the Review Court has already ruled on the appeals of the five other individuals arrested in the case. It replaced house arrest with a one-year ban from public office for former city councilor Giancarlo Tancredi, the former president of the landscape commission Giuseppe Marinoni, and manager Federico Pella. Arrest warrants were canceled entirely for Alessandro Scandurra and Andrea Bezziccheri—the latter having been the only one initially sent to prison.
Through his lawyers, Francesco Mucciarelli and Adriano Raffaelli, Catella recently filed a brief arguing that a €28,500 invoice issued by Alessandro Scandurra’s firm to Coima Sgr is “not false at all.” This invoice was deemed by the GIP to be “solely functional” in justifying an alleged corrupt agreement.
