The board of Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has recommended that the Ministry of Energy approve the early renewal of Enel’s concession for Rio de Janeiro state, which is naturally set to expire on December 9, 2026. According to Aneel, Enel has met all the criteria established by the federal government for a 30-year extension of its license. The proposal, put forward by rapporteur Ludimila Lima, was approved in a vote with four members in favor and one against.
