Lazio secured a 2-0 victory over Greek side Atromitos in their final summer friendly, played in Rieti, despite a subdued performance just over a week before their Serie A debut. Substitute Taty Castellanos and winger Pedro netted late goals to seal the win, the Biancocelesti’s fourth in six preseason fixtures.
Manager Maurizio Sarri continued experimenting with his lineup, fielding Christos Mandas in goal amid an ongoing competition with Ivan Provedel. Patric partnered with Andreas Bjelland in central defense, filling in for the suspended Alessio Romagnoli ahead of the league opener against Como. Castellanos started up front, supported by Matteo Cancellieri, Mattia Zaccagni, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
A fractious first half saw tempers flare around the 30th minute. Matteo Guendouzi’s challenge sparked a melee, followed by a heavy tackle from Atromitos’ Mansur on Castellanos. Both players reacted aggressively, resulting in straight red cards from referee Forneau.
Lazio improved after the break. Sarri introduced fresh legs, and the breakthrough came when substitute Noslin headed home Adam Marusic’s cross from the right with under 15 minutes remaining. Pedro then sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a left-footed strike, capitalizing after an earlier Greek equalizer was ruled offside. The result provides momentum for Lazio’s crucial Serie A opener away to Como next Sunday.
