A 32-year-old Italian man died after being struck by a hit-and-run truck driver on the A1 Motorway near Reggio Emilia. The tragedy occurred shortly after 5:15 PM near kilometer marker 135 southbound, just before the Reggio Emilia exit.
The victim was traveling in a Fiat Doblò with other occupants when, according to Traffic Police reconstruction, he suddenly exited the vehicle while it was in the center lane. He was then struck by a large truck that failed to stop and fled the scene. Authorities have launched a nationwide search for the vehicle along the Autosole route.
Emergency services, including an ambulance, a medical car, and a helicopter air ambulance dispatched from Parma’s Maggiore Hospital, responded immediately. Despite their efforts, the young man died instantly. Firefighters and Traffic Police also attended the scene.
