Lombardy Invites Visitors to Experience Region as Vast Museum

Lombardy’s Regional Culture Councillor Francesca Caruso today promoted the region as a vast, open-air museum, highlighting tools like the ‘Abbonamento Musei’ pass. This card grants free or discounted entry to over 230 cultural sites across Lombardy. Caruso also emphasized the numerous summer exhibitions available.

“Every exhibition,” Caruso suggested, “can become a key to unlock the heart of our territories: admire a collection and then discover the squares, historic centers, landscapes, and flavors surrounding them.”

Key exhibitions include: ‘Dentro Lorenzo Lotto’ at Bergamo’s Accademia Carrara, paired with Maurizio Cattelan’s ‘Seasons’ route; ‘Custodire’ (until Dec. 21) on WWII art protection at Brescia’s Castello di Padernello; and ‘Sandy Skoglund. Nel paese delle meraviglie’ at La Cavallerizza. Como’s Villa Carlotta hosts ‘Gli argenti del Duca’ (until Aug. 31) and Maria Dompè’s installation ‘To the women who are not allowed to fulfill their dreams!’. Cernobbio’s Villa Bernasconi presents ‘Suggestioni. La fata degli oggetti inutili’ (until Sept. 22) on Maria Lai.

Cremona’s Museo Civico Ala Ponzone features ‘Giordano Garuti. El Salvaje’. In Lecco province, Varenna’s Villa Monastero offers ‘Ken Scott. Il giardino della moda’ (until Oct. 10). Sabbioneta’s Galleria degli Antichi and Sala degli Specchi host Juergen Teller’s ‘7 ½’.

Milan features prominently: Jean-Michel Jarre’s ‘Promptitude’ and Marc Da Costa & Matthew Niederhauser’s ‘The Golden Key’ at Meet; the ‘Premio ACACIA 2025 – Adelita Husni Bey’ at Museo del 900; Hussain Aga Khan’s ‘The Living Sea’ at the Natural History Museum; ‘Pippa Bacca: innesti’ at Palazzo Morando; ‘Tutti pazzi per i Beatles’ at Gallerie d’Italia; Fabrizio Cotognini’s ‘Transitum’ at Museo Bagatti Valsecchi; Jorge R. Pombo’s ‘Giudizio Universale’ at Fabbrica del Vapore; and the Triennale’s 24th International Exhibition ‘Inequalities’.

In Brianza, Briosco’s Rossini Art Site offers an outdoor sculpture park. Finally, Vigevano’s Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Lomellina transforms a room with ‘Giuliana Cunéaz. Wunderkammer Digitale’.
