Traffic congestion began midday at the Fernetti border crossing near Trieste, Italy, with queues forming and delays expected to worsen. This follows the closure today of the Slovenian H4 highway between Razdrto (near Postojna) and Vrtojba, specifically towards Italy, for roadworks. Consequently, all heavy vehicles – including trucks and buses – are being diverted through the Fernetti crossing, a critical traffic node further strained by holidaymakers traveling to and from vacations. While traffic was heavy throughout the morning, queues solidified in the early afternoon, compounded by ongoing border controls between Italy and Slovenia. Significant disruptions are also reported at the Lisert motorway tollbooth on the Trieste ring road, where queues and slowdowns have been present since the morning.
